I have been having trouble with my PC, running way too slow...

My specs are:
Hewlett-Packard Pavilion Intel celeron processor
*902MHZ
*128MB ram
*Intel(r)82810 Graphics controller

:( don't know how much my fsb run at, if it has any.
I know most of you out there would say that my computer is slow to start off. This computer used to run smooth when I got it almost a year ago.

Any help with advice or donations would be appreciated.

My email is : [email protected]
My screen name on AIM: xrk makaveli xrk

Thanks for your time.

It took away 32 files and deleted them.

Ok, now, do you have any Anti-Virus software? If so, update and run it.
Also, see how many files you have running at startup (to do this, click Start, then Run, then type msconfig ...then go all the way right to the Startup Tab and let me know).

I don't have anti-virus, don't wanna pay for that. On startup there are 15 programs running.

Would it be helpful if I got some RAM, GFX CARD? Of course it will, but just wanna make sure.

When you say it's slow...what are you referring to? While on the interent. On bootup...or just in general?

Go to HP's website and make sure you have all the lastest updates for your pc.

Of course extra ram would help it greatly and a video card would help your game play. Ram is very cheap right now and would be your first step but first you have to figure out what type of ram you have.

With a P3 900, he would have PC133 Sdram...

Also 15 programs loading at startup would definately have something to do with it!
Click start>run and type MSCONFIG in the run box and go to the start up tab, and uncheck everything that isn't needed!!!

And yes, upgrade your ram to at least 256 - you can pick up a 128 stick of PC133 DIRT cheap right now, and get a better vid card for gameplay - if you don't have an AGP slot (Brown, and shoter than the other slots - and I doubt you do on an HP w/ built in video) get a PCI model of the Geforce 4 MX series (i don't think they made the ti series in PCI versions, but I could be wrong).

I can find out what RAM i got, just need to call up my friend. I fixed the lagg now, I changed resoulution to 800x600. What sucks is when I fix something, something else happens. I fixed lagg but mouse and keyboard lock up on me during game play.

To find out what kind of RAM I have...
Where do I look for the type or RAM?

By lagg, I mean everything running slow. That ad-aware did help La_Tech. THX

I was considering getting the G-Force4 MX series, just forgot the name. It was the best for PCI, at like $129.

celerons are slow, but since it was first comp i had , and i kept it "clean" it was as fast as buddies amd's.....

i had 512 ram, a pci 7200 radeon, and 600mhz celeron..... cs @ 99 fps. (windows xp, ad-aware, S&D,) didnt use av, since thats just 1 more process running...

get some ram, get a g-card.... keep your stuff clean (un-install uneed crap, check proccess running, keep ad's clean, clear temps, defrag often, etc... you should be fine.)

Thanks |Noob, I need an Anti-virus software. Yea, Have to agree with slow CELERON thing. I did uninstall lots of un-needed things. For the defragging, how long does it usually last?

Depends. If it's your first time...it could take a while. Be sure to run Scandisk first...sometimes Defrag won't finish until you've run a Scandisk...Just FYI

go to www.belarc.com and download the free Belarc Advisor program, then run it -- it will tell you everything about every device in your PC. good to know when you're trying to figure out exactly what's in your box.
