This is the craziest thing Ive ever seen seen. Right around the time I installed Steam wierd crap started happening with my browser. For some reason it refuses to connect to search engines. Ask Jeeves, google,lycos...it times out. It will connect to Yahoo and Excite though...WTH!!! I doubt it has anything to do with Steam. A more likely suspect is my 3 yr old who likes to push buttons when no one is around. That kid has opened some REALLY crazy stuff by pushing god knows what buttons. Robyn is pretty computer saavy and even she was like HUH?? Anyways...any ideas on WTH this is all about??

when you say cannot connect to search engines, can you give an example of exactly what it does? screenshots would be cool also.
And when was the last time you dumped all of your temp internet files, and cookies?

BB when you get home try going here: http://216.239.37.99/

if you can get to the page fine, its a DNS issue and can be fixed pretty easily

Here is a screen I get when I try to go to Jeeves....and YES I typed in"www.ask.com" it did that all on it's own. I even did it twice to make sure King Typo didn't screw up.

You just got ad-aware/spy ware, makes u use there search engine. Simple fix,

security.kolla.de
get spybot s&d run it.

Also for a quick fix to try, run msconfig and turn off all teh crap u know should not run at start-up. Its defiantly a proccess in your bg thats doin it.

ad-aware works good 2 but u gotta crack it (if u want full version)

Really good proggie that i like to remove spy-ware is Spybot. Works like a champ and also gives you a description of everything its removing. I'm sure if you ask jeeves he'll tell you where it is.

Looks like you have a program thats redirecting traffic on you.. Make sure you go to Internet Options >> Connections >> Lan Settings and there should be nothing check marked there.
