Toby I need Help

I got steam installed and updated, connected to CS and it updated, but when I try to Launch CS it gets to the first screen it locks up. I then have to Ctrl-Alt-Del to get to task manager (yeah Im using win 98 SE still) to close it and my computer locks up then. Any ideas on how to fix it or what to do.

Ok I got it to the point it will try to connect to the merc server now, but then it locks up. I disabled the "keep this program updated button" in HL and CS.

Ok now steam has taken a dive on me and gives me some junk about an error and wont load now, so everything gets uninstalled and Ill see what I can do with a fresh install.

If you are going to uninstall, make sure you delete the steam folder in program files before u reinstall

Ok I had just finished installing but.......... didnt delete that folder first so Im going back and doing it again. Im using the steam installer program from the downloads page. Is that the right one or is there a different one that I should get?

Is it the installer thats only a few megs in size? If so, don't use that. Just message me and I'll give u a link to what u need.

Im downloading one now from FilePlanet thats 379MB and its called steaminstall_cs.exe that the right one?

yea goto fileplanet.com and just get the steam with the CS already loaded in it..
