Cs causing cable to go down!!!

Heres another, im sure, no brainer for you guys!! When i go to filter in cs 1.5 for maps and what not, my cable goes down and doesnt filter? Then i have to restart road runner by unplugging and replugging. How weird is that? So i pretty much have to to have server ip and then add to favs to play. It wont filter! Any help??
