View Full Version : Flush What?

I have now switched from satellite (POS) to 56K modem.

I tried to play last night and it would connect momentarily, then I would get a message in the top right hand corner of the screen

Warning: CL_Flush Entity Packet

Then it would freeze and I would have to disconnect.

Any comments?

I want to get back on the wagon in a real bad way.

no cable or dsl opions in your area?

first advice, make sure your rate in CS is set to at least 20000 (I have mine set to 25000 due to trial and error, and am on cable).

hope to see ya back soon.

lol....ok 56k hell is what you have, then i have some advice for you:

1) rate should be set on 3400 (nothing more)
2) set cl_allowdownload to 0
3) set cl_updaterate to 20
4) set cl_cmdrate to 30
5) set pushlatency to -1/2 of your normal ping (ie -150 if you have an average of 300)

And if you get a cl_flushentity packet, dont disconnect, just sit there for a few moments and it should sort itself out. I get them ALL the time, but they USUALLY will work out in a few minutes.

Its those GOD FORSAKEN net_send error packets that will REALLY tick you off (or at least they tick ME off...lol!)

I tried the push latency command and it said "wtf?". Maybe I didn't type it in right, I will try it again and the rest of the things you said, Thanx Mav

did the things you said and it improved, but my choke is all over the place, at one point it got as high as 100. Anything I can do to lower or stabilize it?

the only thing you can do is play with your rate until you find one that works, the only map my choke is CRAZY on is iceworldx, the rest of them are alright.

You should prolly play around with lower values for you rate:

ie: 3000 or 2500 are also good ones to try

Maverick is 100% correct.

but, you might be able to fix that choke problem by slowly raising cmdrate, updaterate, and rate until you get a value that doesn't lag out and gives 0 (or near 0) choke. Just get some time one night and play around on a server.. keep messing with the rates until you get what you like and stick to it. There aren't any set rates for certain connections.

on the cmdrate and the updaterate: what increments should I use?

I will try that when I get to the game again, right now I am just to frustrated.

Thanx for all of your help guys.

the highest setting for rate is 20000, updaterate and cmdrate are also limited to 100. So just choose random numbers or increment in 10 or so if you want.
