I have Windows XP, and as I understand CS was created for the W98 OS. Just recently I have installed CS on two separate computers but both with the same OS. I was wondering if there are any patchs/fixes out there. I'm to lazy to DL a virtual machine and mess with if for a week to get it working. Any suggestions?

CS Runs fine on XP Natively...

it should run just fine on xp as it would on 98...if you are having problems, then most likely it is due to your machine...newer is better for xp, and also on the amount of ram that you have in your machine...there are no special drivers for cs to run under winxp..though if you want to run cs as if it was running under win98 due this..

right click on the cs icon, then go to properties, click on the compatiblity tab, then check the run this program in compatibility mode for: then select windows98/win me. then hit apply, and the next time you run the game, it will run as if it is running under windows 98.

My machines are fine. I have 512RAM in both but still get the same "Your connection to the internet is invalid. Please check your settings, and try again." message

have you updated it to the 1.5 version yet? A buddy of mine called me last night with the same problem, and we found out that he was trying to use 1.4, which wont work.
