I need a PCI slot "All In Wonder" card or one similar with A/V in/out and S-video input. I need to upload analog video to my pc for editing. I tried a "plug and play" adapter but the software suck ballz...keep crashing...so I'd like to get a card instead.

Actually i believe he is looking for a PCI card, not an AGP card. Not that I think this makes a dif in the price, but it might in finding what he needs. :)

LA_MERC_Onji
March 21st, 2003, 05:57 PM
yeah he needs pci, because he already has a 3dcard in his AGP slot and does not want to do the switch back and forth thing

That's not the AIW though...the 9700Pro AIW is like 400-500 bucks. In fact I don't even know if they made anything higher than the 7500 in a PCI Version. I'd have to check up on that.

BB, have you thought about just a video capture/mpeg decoder card??? That's what the pro's use, and it's a lot better than an AIW card, and you can do everything with it, and a lot faster because it's a dedicated card rather than a card that has to split priorities around...just a thought.

I'd get an ATI TV wonder from walmart/circuit city/best buy, wherever for like $40...it has s vid and av in and out, and a tv tuner built it...basically it is tha all in wonder part of an all in wonder. here's on I found on price watch for like $45 http://www.enpc.com/cgi-bin/enpc/100703137.html and here is one at best buy http://www.bestbuy.com/Detail.asp?m=1581&cat=1588&scat=&e=11008484 If you like your current vid card, this is all you need, and it IS PCI...

Max, I went to Best Buy and the card you showed me has the S-video plug in but NOT audio jacks. From what I was told S-video plug does not tranfer sound, only video. If this is correct then I cant use that card. Why the hell is this so frigin difficult?? All I wanna do is upload video......GRR!!

LA_MERC_Maverick
March 23rd, 2003, 01:26 PM
correct me if i'm wrong, but wouldnt you use your sound card to transfer the sound?

LA_MERC_Cowboy_From_Hell

The sound card I have doesn't have composite In jacks. Nice try though.

LA_MERC_Cowboy_From_Hell
March 23rd, 2003, 02:31 PM
Umm...what does that mean Track?? My sound card has the mic and headphone jacks but not composite jacks. It's a POS PCI 16 sound card. This is getting to be a pain. I had bought a USB adapter that had all the right connectors but the software was really p!ssing off my computer so I took it back. It was made by Pinnacle. There is another company that makes a similar product so I guess I'll try that one. I'm trying (with very little luck) to keep this endeavor under $100.

Scott:(

BB, does your sound card have a "Line In" jack? If so, you can buy a 1/8" mini-plug-to-RCA (composite) cable for a couple of bucks (pretty common cable, I use one to hook up my laptop to my receiver for MP3 playback). This one is a bit expensive, but I know you could find a cheaper one at Radio Shack.

You might be able to use the mic-in jack for the same purpose, but the audio might be distorted.

LA_MERC_Cowboy_From_Hell
March 23rd, 2003, 05:03 PM
ITs got three inputs...a green a pink and a blue. It is the most basic duplex card you can get. I think I paid like $29 for it. Thats not a bad idea K-BOMB. All this trouble is frying my brain.

I think blue is usually line-in...does it have a symbol like ((<-))

LA_MERC_Cowboy_From_Hell
March 23rd, 2003, 08:15 PM
I think so. I'm leaning toward the spliter I mentioned that is USB. It just seemes to make sense and will be easier to plug in when I need it. Just hope the damn software works.
