**This guide is by someone else, it was taken from shacknews, this is the original post http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=5317697 but below is the exact same thing they posted. This shows you the proper way to use the binoculars**

Luna's guide to ARTILLERY
First, have someone scout for you or do it yourself.

Find an appropriate target:

Use Binoculars:

Cackle to yourself as you click left mouse to confirm:

Now, the gunner should orient the main guns with his best guess:

Right click to switch to artillery mode and watch as his shot leaves the origin:

... and travels it's course to the target area.

Here's where it gets confusing for people, the faded yellow hash marks are NOT where the scout selected for you! They merely mark the location of your last shot's pitch and yaw of the cannon. Scouts cannot do the aiming for you so don't try to figure that out, they merely provide better sight of the target and where your shells are landing. There is no need for the scout to keep painting the target unless the artillery position asks for one. If you keep selecting new targets, the artillery piece will have a much harder time getting orientation on consecutive shots as the view will constantly change for him. This is a bad thing.

One binocular scout click gives the artillery your view for 120 seconds. Over time, artillery should call for a new scout if the timer gets low.

If you oriented the turret properly, it shouldn't take you one or two shots before you are in the ballpark of where you want to be. Now you can really start using the hash mark history to walk your fire to where you want to hit.

Ba da BOOM:

A little bit more to the left and up a notch:

Back to the right to finish that sucker off:

Let's go up some and finish off that enemy turret:

With a good initial scout of the target relative to your turret's postion, it becomes cake to totally shell exactly where you want to hit from a LONG ways off.

Remember, less scouting is better for the trigger man.

When you get clever, you can use aerial scouting for precise hits...
Looks good, time to bail:

Don't try this at home:

Pop the chute:

Piss off the US airfield:

The fox is in the henhouse, I repeat, the fox is in the henhouse:
