Hey Andyconda and Vicious,

Diesel and I were talking about case-modding, and were wondering if you could share some expertise on achieving the red glow and smoke portion of case modding. We figure the two of y'all have it down pat. Any advice?:confused:

Smoke portion is easy---install a Deere/Austin power supply and wait. I had one that smoked itself, my MB, and a stick of RAM. Thay fail quite often, and spike HUGE when they go, taking lots of other stuff with them.

Good God get this boy an engineering book! The clips stored potential energy, but there was no force applied in the example you give above to release the potential energy. However, thermal stresses arising from repeated heating and cooling of the clips combined with material defects could led to fatigue failure. This is a more valid explanation and probably what actually occurred.
