Ok, I have a rather large program written in Fortran. With the upgrade of the engineering department to all Vista 64 bit workstations we have a problem running some of the companies original software. Some original programs writen in Fortran will not run well on Vista 64. We have to use a DOS emulation type software like "DOSBOX" and the lag is horrible. So I was wondering how difficult it would be to convert the program to C++ so it will run on windows better without the need for emulators. All input appreciated. Thanks.

"converting" from Fortran to C++ is a nightmare. You'd be better off with new software.

Personal opinion.

Would have to agree that it sounds like a nightmare...it'll take someone who understands Fortran to be able to re-write it all in C++. doesn't sound like fun to me.

I would agree - scratch it and just write a program in C++ (or C#) that does what you need.

It ran fine in XP 64 bit?
