Have you ever wondered what RSS feeds are? Watch this little video. I use them everyday, and its truly addicting:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0klgLsSxGsU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0klgLsSxGsU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

if you start using google reader and start getting into RSS feeds (which you really should) here is a link to the RSS feed for the merc forums :)

RSS Feeds absolutely rule! I use them to aggregate about 30 personal blogs as well as 20 or 20 other sites. With Google Reader, I don't have to revisit the blogs of friends that post one a year. It also auto-marks my topics as read so that when I go home and hit reader again, I only get the new stuff. Good stuff. I'm going to add the Merc feed and see how it works.

Another thing that you can do with Google Reader is mark articles as 'shared'. You can then expose those as an RSS feed and put it on a personal blog or whatever will grab RSS feeds (like iGoogle).
