I was thinking about getting one of these to play around with, and pass onto my wife after I get her trained in Linux. Her company went 100% Linux in the 90's and I think this looks pretty saweet. Tell me what y'all think.

I think they are cool, but the distro that comes on it is a hacked up version of Xandros.

I'm planning to get one of these: http://www.msimobile.com/DetailPage.aspx?model=Wind_NB_Linux

When they come out next month - bigger HDD, higher res screen, and a REAL Linux distro (SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop) - and it's still just $399.

I am not impressed with SuSe at all mano. Installed 11 yesterday and even Dave, Mr. Linux himself, promptly over installed Ubuntu.

Main Difference is HDD. The WIND uses the standard 2.5" HDD where the Eee PC uses a Solid State HDD. Failure rate on Solid State I believe would be exponentially less in a laptop. I assume that a 16 Gb SS model will come out soon. You can get a 8 Gb XP Eee PC but the cost is $200 more. I was figuring boot from USB and have an 16 Gb XP, a 16GB Vista, and a 16 GB Ubuntu or PClinux2007 stick. Swap in and out as needed.

The WIND will be something I may look at for my wife though. 10" Screen. 80 Gb HDD. Built in 1.3Mp Camera with a good MIC. That is what I really want. Almost like a Video Cell phone. Lol.

My most recent find, and currently showing up through my vendor: http://www.ebyte.com/productdetails/ASUS/90OA09BA1312131U305Q

Why not get one of these ... I don't think hard drive space would be an issue. :D

Uh...no thank you. Tht would be hard for my wife to fit in her purse.

What?! Your wife doesn't have one of the extremely large diaper bag looking purses? I though that was a requirement.

lol! :D
