Hey guys,

I have been fighting this one to no prevail.

System:
Acer Aspire 3100
Windows Vista Basic
4 Gb RAM
Owner plugged in a JVC Camcorder and since then the ports have been sketchy. Now they do not work at all.

I have tried to disable then uninstall them through Device Mgr.
I have ran the "Auto-repair" Utility off the Vista Disc. --> Nothing repairable found.
They see a device, but will not recognize it at all. Wireless mouse, multiple thumbdrives, ext. HDD. Nothing works.

Any tries or ideas. I have not tried any registry hacks of any sort. I do not know the specific location for the ports in Regedit.

Thanks in advance.

Rook

*EDIT*
I have booted from a Ubuntu Disk and they do not work with also. Prolly S.O.L. eh?

That's the first sign that your flux compacitor is failing. You need to replace it quick or it will fry the internal clock and you'll be stuck in 1885 FOREVER!

I see two major things wrong - first, it's an Acer, and second, it's running Vista

:D

If nothing is registering maybe your mobo is having issues.

Bios flash maybe?

what did the jvc autoinstall? That is usually the problem. uninstall the driver/software?
