Nvidia Drivers? what to use?

OK, the latest one is 163.71 I believe that version is good for 6, 7, and 8 series GPUs. I want to know if any of you guys are running a earlier version driver, and if so, Why? I have heard it said bye a couple of guys, the latest drivers for the 8800 are crappy. So, if I'm going to retro my graphic drivers, what should I use?

I'm running 162.18 for my XFX 7950 GT b/c 163.71 is known to have bugs with that VGA.
