My board supports DDR SDRAM 128MB,256MB,512MB and 1GB Dimm modules; unbuffered DDR200/266 SDRAM with a maximum of 2GB.
I keep seeing stuff about frequency when I look for memory. Does frequency make that much difference. I really didn't think buying memory would be this confusing. please help and thanks
My board is an AMD Athlon XP 2400+
2.00 GHz.

This is what your looking for http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820141218

That was the only stuff on Newegg that was 2x512, you may find some other places but it's fairly old RAM so it may be tough to find and/or pricey. That for $87 aint bad at all I thought it would be more. The frequency is the speed that your bus runs on, so for the fastest you want the max your motherboard can handle. It's makes a difference on benchmarking but you probably won't notice any differences in regular use. Since your a gamer you want the best you can get/afford.

That isn't your board specs either Nutria, that was your processor specs, LOL!

So what would happen if I were to get something with a higher frequency? Will it still work?

I think it will work but it would only run at 266, not positive though as it may not work at all.
