Pick my new monitor!!!!

Ok guys, I'm in the need for a new monitor (not really, but I wants it, I needs it, its MY PRECIOUS!!!! Besides, I want to watch all my DVDs in their native format, and my 17" seems tiny). I want a widescreen, and right around $500 is my price limit. So here's my 2 choices at this point, if you have any others you would recommend, let me know:

Big Price difference, but the Asus is sooo purty...Not like I need tilt/rotation/pivot, but still...sooo purty

Oh, and I did look at the 20.1 from Dell, I love the contrast ratio but the response time threw me off (16ms??? thats crazy).

Thanks Target, those are all nice and all, but the last viewsonic isn't a widescreen, wich I want, and the Dell and the Acer are a bit out of my price range (really, right around $500 max)

while i LOVE the dells, they may be out of your price range

I can personally vouch for the Benq's I have a 19" and it is great. The only thing I saw on the one you linked is the contrast ratio isnt that great 600:1, i try to look for something atleast 700:1 (contrast ratio is how bright you can make your monitor) but other than that, the rest of the specs look fine.

Yeah I love my 20.1 widescreen Dell, it has a 12ms refresh and it is great, my friend also has a BenQ, and it is sweet for the price as well. If your timing is right and they put the dell on sale for the price, you can not beat it IMHO.

I like my 2001FP 20.1" Dell, it's not the widescreen though.
My friend bought the 20.1 widescreen, It's great for watching widescreen movies but personally I don't like it that much because I use my computer for gaming.
Too bad I bought it awhile ago for $600, they are so inexpensive. now.
I don't even think Dell sells them anymore.

Personally, I think the widescreens are great for gaming. More and more games offer widescreen resolutions and vid settings.

yep could not agree more with Dirge, when people see the MMORPG's on wide screen, you can not go back.

Now BF2 does not support wide screen atm, so it kinda blows it up, but I will tell you it looks good and you can not really tell the difference of it being "stretched"

I wish you could of been at our LAN we had the spectrum of LCD's there :)
