We went to the Smoky's over the weekend and just thought I would post a few pictures...

A tid bit of history. My dad served most of his time on the very first Charles F. Adams class destroyer DDG-2. The U.S.S. Adams. This class was the follow up class based on the Forrest Sherman class strictly designed a be a missle destroyer. It was commisioned and stationed in Charleston, South Carolina (My Birth place).

I've been on the U.S.S Adams a lot and loved when they got to take family out for a day ride. Watching the phalanx guns shoot done a drone plane or watching the missle system shoot out of the deck rotate to firing position and launch at drones was extremely cool. Here's a pic.

However our journey, under Bill Snyder, from the depths of college football hell to a Big 12 Championship is one of the greatest stories in the history of college football.

The picture you’re referring to is of the USS Turner Joy. As Andy told us it is a Sherman Class Destroyer, currently harbored at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Reagan and I toured the boat this summer prior to a ferry ride from Bremerton over to Seattle. Read more here.

Many of my family have served in our nations armed forces, my father in the Air Force, my grandfather in the Army, and four uncles in the Navy. I was always very envious of my cousins who spent many long summer days on the fantail of the Constellation, the Ranger, or the Teddy Roosevelt watching weapons systems demonstrations during the family cruise from Hawaii to port in San Diego. Sean and Brett never missed an opportunity to finish the last few days with their father aboard whichever carrier he was finishing his tour on. Lucky Bastage's!!

Thanks, Yellowdog. The picture was taken in the mountains of Mexico. My wife is from Chihuahua, Mexico, and we visit her family from time to time. In fact, we are getting ready to go again at the beginning of May.

I remember about a year and a half ago I called the police on two guys doing wheelies down I-10 because they were backing up traffic because everybody was afraid to get close to them or pass them. I sure didn't want to be around if any of them lost it on a wheelie.

Without a doubt Jerry, that is one of the funniest pics I've ever seen. I literally spit coffee all over my computer at work. I still laugh out loud every time I look at it. The wheelie pics are good. I especially like how I know where in Alabama you are doing that by the wire rail fence in the median in the pics. I know your just inside Alabama from the Mississippi side on I-10. I like the GSXR Bike and it looks good stood up. Nice outfit and I like the reflective visor. Great pics. The race pic is by far my favorite, Damn it that is funny!
