I know this guy........who is installing a lynksys wireless network on a new pc he bought from Sam's Club (don't ask). He says he gets a message something like this: "can't find/make connection" or something to that affect.

He has an old pc that he tried connecting the wireless network to and apparently he can see some sort of secured connection but it is slower than is old 56k modem.

the new pc has XP home edition and he is hooking up a Lynksys wireless network...is there a simple fix to this? or should he just wait for the Time Warner technician later this week???

btw, I know absolutely nothing about wireless networking :)

if the router is new, then you usually have to go in and set it to broadcast your ssid. Of course you may want to put a password on top of that.

The Time Warner technician will tell him to remove the wireless network before he will even look at the speed issues with that customers cable connection.
