I'm building a computer for a friend who is using it for office applications and internet surfing. And if it will support Windows 64 when it comes out, the processor says that it will but I'd like someone who has kept up with things to give me the ok before I do it officially.

Is there a watt requirement for the powersupply for the 64 processors? The old slot A was a 300 watt PSU.

Yep...both are the same socket and ASUS makes good boards.

I think I have that same mobo and cpu in a PC we put together at work for a test bed. works great. we don't really stress it, but all the guys in my dept keep threatening to take it for their own PC.

Normally I am a ASUS board kinda guy.. But lately here I have put together a total of about 20 rigs.. all ASUS p4800 boards.. I've had two come with problems, and one crap out after about 3 months in service... with that said ... You would be hard pressed to find ANYTHING written bad about ASUS.. they are one of the industry leaders.. ABIT is the other company I've been checking out... There boards come with lots of schwag, and the boards a very well laid out.. They are also a weee bit cheaper then ASUS..LMAO.. I know you didn't ask for all this, but I've been feeling a lil frisky today! :D

I have an ASUS board now and love it, zero problems.

Thanks for the info guys when it said CPU: AMD 64/Sempron I wasn't sure if the mobo could only use Sempron core chips.
