I want some input on WD, Segate, and some of the other names out there.

When I looked over newegg, they have so many Darn options, I was like

" lets see what other people have used and like."

I was thinking of going with 120 MB drive, or maybe 160, depends on price.

I have a MSI Mobo with 2 IDE ports, No Sata.

Also, is there any downfall to going with the larger HD's, like 200 GB and Up?

If you want to go w/ SATA, you can always get a PCI expansion card to accomidate the new drive.

I say get the best combination of speed and size vs. price you can find. I've always been a WD fan, but I honestly think its like a Chevy/Ford/Dodge - Coke/Pepsi kind of thing. I've seen them all be good drives, and I've seen them all fail at one time.

But, like I've said, I have two WD Drives in my system at the moment.

One plus is Seagate has a 5 year warranty on their drives, which is the main reason I just got one for my kids computer. Thinking about getting another SATA for my main computer, right now I only have a 36GB Raptor hooked up and it only has like 5GB of space left. DOH!

I'll tell you what I want to know. What's the NCQ stand for and is it better for your drive to have it?

Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA NCQ ST3160827AS 160GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive - OEM
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 ST3120026AS 120GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - OEM

What's the difference between a 7200.7 and a 7200.8?

Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 SATA NCQ ST3200826AS 200GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive - OEM

Also will a SATA II drive work on a SATA I interface?

I've always used WD and I've never had a HD fail. I still have my super high power 3GIG wd hard drive running fine. At work we use WD. I'm told that some time back the company got a couple bad Maxtor's. Not to say that it happens all the time. The SATA PCI card option is pretty cool. I have one in my rig at work. Seems to work fine.
