Mexican Officials Microchip People With Security Clearance

MEXICO CITY -- Security is literally getting under the skin for workers at Mexico's attorney general office.

About 160 workers there have been implanted with microchips under the skin that give them access to secure areas of headquarters.

The technology is in wide use for animals -- but not humans. It's made by a subsidiary of Applied Digital Solutions of Palm Beach, Fla.

The rice-sized chips are implanted in the arms of staffers, and it's possible the office of Mexican President Vicente Fox might follow suit.

That's not a very good idea, that could enable some terrorist or criminal instant access to secured areas without having to know a password. of course they would have remove the device and implant it themselves, but we've seen what these guys are capable of and what they are willing to do.

There was also a discussion a few years ago that they might do some such impant so that a person could be identified for instant access to their health records.
