Well, I know it has been a few days, but since no one has posted (that I saw), I wanted to put up a few articles I have found that exemplify what this latest example of supreme selflessness has been.. Because, no matter what you are doing right now, none of us had it as good as this guy who put it all on hold to defend what he believed in and protect those he loved. He would be the first to tell you he is no better than the other 800 heroes that have died fighting the war on terror. God Bless them all, God Bless this country, and most of all: Thanks.

i agree with u 100% cause Pat Tillman gave up a 3 year $3.6 million NFL contract for a $18,000 a year job as a Army Ranger and he did that so he could protect his Country and Family if that is not what makes u a hero then what does he is what we all should strive for

w00t I am in such awe by the courage and patriotism, for what Pat did, its what this great country was founded on, I can only hope that I may have that much honor for my child to look upon.

Here's a good question for you...How is giving up millions of dollars more selfless than good ol Bob on the farm giving up his life? Yes Pat Tillman said himself that he's no better than those 800 others giving their own lives, but I think it's absolutely ridiculous that just because he gave up a multi million dollar football contract makes him more of a publicized hero than those that have already died in combat...I say yes, Pat Tillman is a hero, but he died no differently than the men he fought next to, and for that, I believe he should be treated equally...Friggin money. The overzealous fanaticism over a sport (which I love dearly) and one person who gave up a bunch of stupid money. Well ya know what? "He who dies with the most toys, still dies" and that's the really crappy point...But that's just my point of view...

I couldn't agree more, Maximus. Granted, he is a hero...but he is no more a hero than any other GI Joe out there who is fighting for our country knowing full well that death could be waiting for him/her right around the corner. To laud him as more of a hero than others cheapens the deaths of those other servicemen that died in the same way, IMHO.

Thank you Scott...Here's an example of what I'm talkin about guys...How is Pat Tillman's death or his time in service any more spectacular than the guy that was KIA here??? This guy was from a town just outside of the city that I live.

true Matt...everyone that has ever served justly and honorable in our great military, is a hero, he is just a "star" so he get national publicity. But do not think Pat Tillman was an ordinary soldier! Many people in our country would not have made the same decision he did, that what makes him a hero to our counrty, imho.

That's why I said what I did in my original post...

They are all Pat Tillman's in those flag-draped coffins.

Me too. I just think the media has taken this thing and blown it WAY out of proportion (big surprise there).
