http://www.lamerc.com/uploads/406it-logo-with-house.jpg It will be for a web-based service for home computers. Give it to me. Archer121203-15-2010 01:10 PM Burn it phide03-15-2010 01:19 PM Nice, but lose the fence. It's freaking me out a little. Grentz03-15-2010 01:21 PM I think you should have called in 69it.... soulesschild03-15-2010 01:24 PM Lose the fence as phide said. Otherwise, looks nice. illgiveumorality03-15-2010 01:24 PM
Nice, but lose the fence. It's freaking me out a little.
Agreed, kinda makes the house the suspect of a robbery or something. thee_rook03-15-2010 01:33 PM The reason the fence was the "white picket fence" play. The service is MSS for home users. Bonksnp03-15-2010 01:33 PM Lose the fence and make it look like a big puffy button like every other computer shield looking logo. madFive03-15-2010 01:57 PM There’s nothing terribly wrong with it at all – great first effort! That being said, I can nit-pick all day if you really want. ;) The shield-image and the text seem fairly un-related to me – ideally a logo should be all tied together as one coherent design. - Try changing the line-quality of the shield to match the font you’re using (same thickness, same color, same sharp corners, same curve-styles). - The shape of the shield is a little iffy to me – needs stronger lines and sharper corners to convey a stronger security theme. - The way the dot of the “i” sticks up above the rest of the text is distracting. Make the height of the numbers the same as the letters so the whole text block sticks together a little more. - I don’t really have a problem with including the fence, but my first thought when I saw it was it was a really tiny fence – would be easy to step over. Maybe make the fence taller and more imposing – add some perspective so it looks like it’s towering over the viewer’s height. That’s all I have for now. :) finalgt03-15-2010 02:04 PM I like the fence but I hate the color/gradient in the background. The picket fence looks off-white, should be pure white - and the background (IMO) should be the same color as the text. Oh, and I'd go more angular on the points for the shield; the lines of the text are super-sharp, and the logo is very smooth. Just doesn't match up. soulesschild03-15-2010 02:05 PM
I like the fence but I hate the color/gradient in the background. Sex sells. Calavaro03-15-2010 02:09 PM Yeah, the fence makes it like a Jason-esque mask. I don't understand what the house would represent though... are you a realtor, gardening company or a security company? I don't see the IT in it. aardvark sandwich03-15-2010 02:15 PM ^^ home shield maybe. finalgt03-15-2010 02:18 PM
SHUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN SHUN THE HERETIC! :p
SHUNNNNNN-AAAAAAAA Bonksnp03-15-2010 02:21 PM Looking at it again, the word "healthy" makes me think of a medical sign or cross to symbolize my PC is going to be healthy. The house with the fence more says "security". I'm sure I'm doing a poor job of explaining what I mean, but it doesn't seem like the logo and tag line go together. lloose03-15-2010 02:38 PM Colors are washed and its not much of a banner. Needs more originality than a small graphic and 90% of the banner being text with a premade font. phide03-15-2010 03:08 PM A custom typeface would be a little...cost prohibitive, I'd think. lloose03-15-2010 03:09 PM
A custom typeface would be a little...cost prohibitive, I'd think.
You don't need a custom typeface. Real artists draw their letters. You could run into copyright issues using somebody else's typefont anyways. Gott03-15-2010 03:17 PM What is the house supposed to represent? And the white picket fence? Good grief, Charlie Brown. IcedEmotion03-15-2010 03:57 PM The fence with the dark house behind it makes it look haunted. I think the house wants to eat me. TheBuzzer03-15-2010 04:01 PM If i see a website called that I would think it is one of those mailware scam sites. thee_rook03-15-2010 04:18 PM Can someone shop me Charlie Chan's (aka TheBuzzer) head in place of the 0? Will redo some. marshac03-15-2010 04:39 PM

I don't like it. Nothing except for some small text in the lower-right part of the graphic make me of anything computer related- if anything, it makes me think of an alarm monitoring service, or perhaps some sort of realty company. Also, the black coupled with a steel gray/blue (to me) evoke a feeling of- insecurity- almost like some dude is hiding under my window at night and the police (or my various guns) need to get involved. What does this "web-based" service for home computers offer the user? Is it security related? Service/Repair related? RS3RS03-15-2010 04:45 PM The main thing I don't like is that I have NO idea who this company is, what they do, or who their target audience is. Other than "keep your computer healthy", most people won't have any idea what you do (unless they catch on the IT thing, which most people won't). Now, even I couldn't figure out if this is a web-based malware scanning service, an at-home computer repair business, or a corporate IT service (until I read your description). It's all a mix-match. The "IT" in the name makes me think corporate (IT usually doesn't have anything to do with the residential consumer), BUT you have a creepy looking haunted house with a little picket fence in your logo, so that just throws me off more. I hate to be a scrooge, but I might even change the name and the logo. Maybe something a little more cheerful in nature, maybe change the colors around a bit to something brighter and less dreary. I'd say the logo's gotta go, maybe put something vaguely resembling a computer instead of a house -- that way I can look at it and say "Oh, this site has something to do with computers!". I might even change the name to something less confusing. I know you've probably already registered it, but 406IT.com says nothing at all about the site and what it does Paul_Johnson03-15-2010 05:32 PM
Here is v.1 of my logo. 3d in the making w/ transparent background. Give it to me.
I have no clue what your business is looking at that. finalgt03-15-2010 06:07 PM
If i see a website called that I would think it is one of those mailware scam sites.
It's "mal." Mal, from the Latin; "the highest level of education you've completed." Bad. Adjective. 4b5eN+EE03-15-2010 06:14 PM font is TERRIBLE. change it, or at least take italics off. Also, consider changing "it" to capitals. As it is, it reads as "406 it!" not "406IT" (reminds me of the CLR commercials. 'CLR it!') if you make the IT capital, DON'T make it bold. The 406 should be smaller than the capital IT, but bold so it holds the same hierarchy. for the shield, take the black border off but make the background match that size. also an idea, use the shield as the 0 in the domain name. this would pull the whole logo into one, rather than two separate elements. the shield can be used by itself on a business card or letterhead. I'd consider changing the house too. I understand your business is home based computer repair, but that logo comes off as a home security company, not a computer repair company. change the house to a silhouette of a monitor? Faction03-15-2010 06:56 PM there is nothing wrong but it fails to deliver on some key things, like making it identifiable. As others have said, no one knows what the heck your company is. Overall the entire company name is pretty fail and sounds way too generic to ever stand out. 4b5eN+EE03-15-2010 07:03 PM
Overall the entire company name is pretty fail and sounds way too generic to ever stand out.
I didn't really want to comment on the name but since it's been brought up: generally, numbers are a very bad idea for a business name. how many company names besides 7-11 can you name that are numbers? ;) numbers are usually hard for people to remember, even though I'm guessing 406 is the area code? thee_rook03-15-2010 09:30 PM Yes 406 is the area code. For the whole state. We are lookng at making the point of Montana Techs helping Montana Customers. THe business is NOT computer repair. It is more towards the security aspect. Business class management of household computers. I really do appreciate the constructive criticism. I was also thinking dreary and gothic looking. We are going to go with a lot brighter colors though we want to stay away from Yellow, Red, or Green shields. These are all Windows O.S. shields. Malware almost always comes with the Blue shield and grey stripe, so we are def not going with that. THis was just version 1 and pumped out 1 night after a brainstorm. Even though 406IT may be a bad move I think we are sticking with it. RADEoN03-15-2010 09:36 PM do you feed computers vitamins or something Grentz03-15-2010 09:37 PM I think the 406 might work if it is an area code and you service people in that area code. It does not make sense to most of us as we are not familiar with the area code, but to those in it I would think it would be more meaningful. /usr/home03-15-2010 09:45 PM
do you feed computers vitamins or something
wtflmao...
